Tummy Time: A Mum and Baby Meetup at the Toy Library
The early months with a baby can be beautiful, exhausting, joyful and sometimes a little isolating — often all in the same morning. That’s why the team at the Whitianga Toy Library has started a relaxed weekly meetup for mums and babies under 12 months.
Every Wednesday at 9:30am, we open the doors for a casual Tummy Time morning — a chance to get out of the house, put the babies down on the mat, and connect with other mums in the same stage of life.
A Space for Babies to Play
Bring your little one along and let them stretch, wriggle and explore with tummy time and simple play. The toy library has a range of baby-friendly toys and mats that are perfect for early development — mirrors, sensory toys and play gyms that encourage babies to lift their heads, reach and discover.
But there’s no pressure. Some babies will happily roll around, others will want a cuddle, and some may sleep the whole time. That’s all part of it.
A Space for Mums to Connect
Just as important as the playtime is the chance for mums to talk, share stories and meet other parents locally.
Those early months can feel a bit lonely if you’re new to the area or home with a baby all day. A friendly chat with someone who understands can make a huge difference.
Grab a Coffee on the Way
We encourage you to grab a coffee from one of our wonderful local cafés on the way and bring it along. A warm drink and a relaxed chat make the morning even better.
Everyone Welcome
You don’t need to be a toy library member to come along. If you have a baby under 12 months, you’re welcome to join us.
